The main aim of the XIV "World
Football Championship of Medical Teams, 2008" and the V "Global
Congress of Medicine in Health and Sport" is to promote the relationship
among the international community of medical doctors presumably with
a similar level of football skills and training and to promote the exchange
on their medical subjects in research and science.
1. Each team may register a
maximum of 25 players with minimum age of 25 years.
2. The championship is intended
only for medical teams. The players must have a degree as medical doctor.
All captains are required to send a photocopy of the original order
of medicine and two photos of each of their players to the Organization
Committee.
3. As has been the tradition
in this tournament, one non-medical (paramedical) player is allowed
per team however the non-medical player must have played in previous
tournaments to be eligible. No new non-medical players will be allowed
in the future. The non-medical player must be over 35 years of age at
the time of the tournament and has to wear an arm band in the fields.
4. The players must be dressed
in their team strip 30 minutes before the match begins. All teams should
have a spare strip of a different colour to avoid coincidences. In this
case, the visiting team (listed second in the draw) will change outfits.
5. If a team, for any reason,
does not have at least 9 players in the field 15 minutes before the
time scheduled for the beginning of the match, it shall lose the game
by 3-0.
6. Before the match, the referee
and delegates will check the documentation of each player; this routine
can also be supervised by any of the captains.
7. The time of the match is
70 minutes divided in 2 halves of 35 minutes, with a 10-minute break
between them.
8. Substitutions are limitless
and reversible, i.e. any replaced player can substitute for another
player later on in the match.
9. In order to favor older
players, there must be at least 3 players wearing armbands (apart from
the goalkeeper) older than 35 years in each team on the field during
the match. Should a team not comply with this rule, one goal against
will be given for each player older than 35 not playing.
10. Whenever a team wins a
match, 3 points shall be awarded and, in the case of a draw, 1 point
each shall be awarded.
11. The competition shall begin
with a league among the teams composing one group. The number of groups
will depend on the number of teams enrolled. The composition of the
groups will be determined by drawing a lot at the opening ceremony..
12. Before the match, the referees
will check each player's documentation, and they may also request from
some of the captains.
13. Compulsorily, during the
10-minute break at half time of each match, the captain of each team
will choose 2 players from the opposing team who will be required to
answer a written test on easy questionnaire on medical topics. If there
are some doubts as regarding the medical degree of a player, he will
be asked to answer further questions by the Organizing Committee. If
any player denies taking the exam during the break, the team will lose
this match by 0:3. The Organization Committee may determine the permanent
exclusion of any team during the championship if there is proved that
there is more than one non-medical-player on the field.
